Let’s cheer on our Women’s basketball team together with fellow graduate & professional students. COGS has reserved sections 104/106 just for graduate & professional students on February 27th. Games are free for MSU Students. Just bring your MSU ID. Signs will show where the section is located, but if you need assistance, just ask ushers for help finding sections 104/106 COGS seating. On Friday April 8th, from 7:00-10:00 PM, COGS will host a VIP Room at High Caliber Karting & Entertainment, located inside the Meridian Mall. You must purchase your admission to this event online for $10.00.
What does $10 get you? Package includes: COGS VIP Room & Snacks, Tier-2 Wristbands for activities, including: unlimited Axe-throwing, Throw-bowling, Pocket-soccer, A nerf war or an archery tag game, and $5 Arcade credits. (Additional High Caliber activities can be purchased onsite at ticket counter if desired.)

Please only purchase if you intend to come as spots are limited. (One “COGS ticket” per purchase. If sold out, a link will be added for those that wish to be included on a waitlist should we receive any cancellations.

Are you intimidated by the prospect of preparing your grad student tax return? Are you confused by the tax forms you received from your institution or funding agency – or the forms you didn’t? This workshop breaks down how to calculate your taxable income from your salary, stipend, fellowship, grant, and/or scholarships; minimize your tax liability using education tax benefits; and report your income, qualified education expenses, and estimated tax paid on your tax return. It also touches on the special tax situations that may apply to students under age 24.
This workshop, presented by Dr. Emily Roberts, personal finance educator specializing in early-career PhDs, is appropriate for US citizens, permanent residents, and residents for tax purposes, and comprises pre-recorded videos, worksheets, and live Q&A calls.

Dr. Emily Roberts is a personal finance educator specializing in early-career PhDs and has led several popular personal finance workshops for graduate student at MSU. Through her business, Personal Finance for PhDs, she equips graduate students, postdocs, and PhDs with Real Jobs to make the most of their money. She gives seminars at universities and for associations; interviews graduate students and PhDs on her podcast; serves as a money coach; and creates courses and workshops on taxes, investing, and more.
Seeking Graduate & Professional Students to Serve on University Hearing Boards
COGS would like to encourage graduate/professional students to consider applying to serve on University Hearing Boards for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year. The new term typically will start in May (2022). By getting involved, you can be a voice for graduate & professional students while gaining valuable experience and expanding your MSU network! The Office of Student Support and Accountability is asking for applications by January 15th, though will remain open until filled.

Bundle up, grab a friend/family and come on out to explore the trails at Woldumar Nature Center with COGS! Located at 5739 Old Lansing Rd, Lansing, MI 48917. Free ample parking available. Meet by the large rock at 2:00 PM right in front of the Visitors Center bldg. (next to parking lot).
