The Graduate Student Leadership Summit is an intense, one-day leadership development event, open to all graduate, graduate professional students, and post-docs. The goal of the Summit is to empower graduate students to take a proactive approach to their leadership development so they may make a difference at MSU and in the world. Through quality keynote speakers and engaging workshops, students interact with content related to personal, relational, functional, and contextual leadership skills while participating in experiences that can help them develop their core leadership competencies. Participants will meet this year’s Graduate Student Life and Wellness Leadership Fellows, who are integral to the ‘for grad students, by grad students’ design of the Leadership Institute.

Employers are looking to hire people with tangible and transferable leadership experience. The Academy will help you understand and develop who you are as a leader, show you different leadership perspectives, and give you exposure to leadership in practice. The Academy is based on a research-driven leadership framework that develops holistic leaders through four foundational pillars: Personal Leadership, Relational Leadership, Functional Leadership and Contextual Leadership. You will also benefit from the support and challenge of working with students from different disciplinary contexts.
When is the Leadership Academy?
The Academy will begin with a mandatory all-day retreat on Saturday, January 19th from 9:30a.m.-4:30 p.m. We will meet every Thursday evening from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. starting January 24th through March 28th (with March 7th and 14th off). We will provide an optional dinner for those interested at 5:00 p.m. each week. Participants need to be able to attend each session, however accommodations can be made if no more than one session is missed, not including the retreat.
Apply today at the link below. Applications will be accepted until Dec. 28, 2018. Notice of acceptance into the academy will be sent before the start of Spring Semester.
