Update from SAGE – Be Part of the White Paper Committee!

The national graduate student government coalition, Student Advocates for Graduate Education – or SAGE, is looking for students who are interested in writing white papers about higher education funding, research funding, and international student issues.  Please see below if you are interested in getting involved!
At their recent meeting, SAGE selected the following topics for white papers that will be delivered to congress during our SAGE day on the hill even this spring: 
  1. Higher Education Funding(i.e., Increase federal funding for higher education)
  2. Research Funding(i.e., increase funding for NIH, NSF, DARPA, and other federal research agencies that fund graduate student research. Also, review funding requirements for Graduate Fellows and Assistants)
  3. International Student Issues(i.e., support for a policy that would provide international advanced degree holders trained in the U.S. with green cards)

If you are a graduate student and would like to help write one of these white papers, please sign up tojoin a white paper committee here! We also ask that you forward this invitation to any graduate students at your university who may be interested.

COGS Full Council Passes Vote of No Confidence in MSU BoT

At their Full Council meeting held on October 19, 2022, the Michigan State University Council of Graduate Students passed a vote of No Confidence in the MSU Board of Trustees in reaction to recent events culminating in the resignation of President Stanley. Further, the resolution calls for the resignation of  the Board. The measure passed with 38 votes in favor, 0 votes against, and 4 abstentions.  You can read the full text of the resolution here: 22-FS-07-COGS-No_Confidence.pdf

MSU Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report

Each year, Michigan State University compiles a report to capture diversity, equity and inclusion at the institution.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report provides an overview of the compositional diversity of MSU students, staff and faculty and DEI initiatives occurring across campus. This year’s report is a compilation of data and brief descriptive narratives for the academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
