Syllabus Development: Communicating Expectations with Care

Syllabi are considered the key to student and instructor success. With that in mind, it is important to communicate expectations clearly using inclusive syllabus language to support students of all backgrounds and establishing a culture of care. In this session, instructors and advanced GTAs will discuss how they develop their syllabi using the syllabus checklist and how and use it as a tool for effective instruction. After this session participants will be able to identify important elements of a syllabus and employ clear and supportive language in setting and communicating expectations for a successful semester for the students and instructor.
