Destress and Rest Kits assembled to ease end-of-year stress
Members of the executive board and full council, along with the COGS office staff worked diligently to complete 7,200 end-of-semester “Destress and Rest Kits” intended for distribution to graduate and professional students. Packs featured eye masks embellished with the COGS logo, coloring books, crayons and KIND bars. The KIND Corporation donated 7,200 bars, one for each pack, to COGS after hearing about their effort to spread kindness and stress relief to graduate students during finals week. Graduate and professional students shared photos of their artwork during finals week in the coloring books provided by COGS.
COGS invites Rackham Graduate Student Government to go beyond the rivalry
On October 29, 2016 The Council of Graduate Students hosted its first Beyond the Rivalry pre-game meet and greet with University of Michigan’s Rackham Graduate Student Government. The Beyond the Rivalry program is the brainchild of COGS President Dee Jordan and serves as an inter-conference inclusion initiative with the goal of strengthening relationships between graduate student governments in the BIG 10. The initiative includes campus visits, group and individual meetings to share best practices, food, fun and camaraderie. COGS plans to host other BIG 10 graduate governments through the program in order to promote an inclusive environment during BIG 10 intercollegiate events.
Our Mission
The Council of Graduate Students is the authorized student government on campus representing all graduate/professional students at Michigan State University. Our mission is to promote the academic, social, and economic goals of graduate and professional students.
