    MSU Graduate and Professional Students are invited to join a Bystander Intervention Training on Tuesday, March 28th from 9-11am in the Brody Large Private Dining room located in the Brody Square dining hall- breakfast included. Please let the host person know you are there for the POE Bystander Intervention Training-- you will not need to pay at the door.  Presented by the Prevention, Outreach and Education Department, and facilitated by staff from the It's On Us national organization (https://www.itsonus.org), the Bystander Intervention workshop will discuss ways to challenge, interrupt, and prevent gender-based violence by being active bystanders. This workshop will explore what bystander intervention is, specific skills and behaviors to use, and opportunities to practice using scenarios.

In this panel discussion, participants will learn about the critical role of inclusive recruitment and mentoring practices in broadening participation from faculty who have successfully recruited, mentored, and helped to launch the STEM careers of underrepresented students.

    About WOCI: The MSU Womxn of Color Initiatives (WOCI) is an effort to organize events for womxn of color and their allies on the MSU campus and in the greater Lansing community. In doing so WOCI aims to create spaces for students to be in conversation with each other and engage with women of color faculty, guest speakers, staff, and community members.     We invite the community to attend a keynote conversation between the director of the Avery Research Center at the College of Charleston and expert in Black girlhood and land, Dr. Tamara Butler and Colah B. Tawkin. Attendees have an option of joining us in-person or watching via live stream. The first 25 people to register will receive a copy of Black in the Garden coloring book.

  • Graduate School Write-In

    Chittenden Hall Room 110 and Zoom

    Graduate School Write-Ins are co-sponsored by the Graduate School and The Writing Center at MSU. The write-ins are hosted and facilitated to provide writers with an opportunity to write in a shared writing space where other writers are present, and a writing center consultant/staff member is present to provide consultations for writers who would like to have a consultation appointment during the session.

    Along with this, the write-ins provide an opportunity for facilitators to promote and share information about upcoming events hosted by the Graduate School, Writing Center, and other campus partners such as the University Outreach and Engagement Office and to provide resources and information that can be used to form graduate writing groups, have writing center appointments or attend workshops (provided by the Graduate School) cater to graduate students based on goals they may share during the write in.

     Event will be held at the Graduate School- Chittenden Hall room 110. Zoom link  will be shared with registrants prior to the date of the workshop. 

    *Food and activities are based on registration numbers. Please note that your registration is a commitment to attend.

  • Collaboration Summit

    This event is part of the 2023 Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration Series

    Invest in your collaboration skills while learning from colleagues across campus at this half-day summit. Dr. Lotrecchiano will open with a keynote and interactive work covering “Seven Things to Know about TeamWork.” After lunch, we will explore how people in different fields navigate common collaboration challenges through a panel discussion and audience engagement. Participants will gain awareness of best practices from the collaboration literature and from collected experience and begin applying these insights to their own work. Snacks and lunch will be provided. 

    Cost: $10 

    RCR credit: 1-hour discussion-based basic training, or 3-hours annual refresher training (the differential amount is to ensure that students receive basic education in a variety of topics, not mainly this one).
