Participants will walk away with a clear comprehension of the backward design as the backbone of all successful instruction. They will have the opportunity to design a mini lesson to implement the concept for future use.

    Date:

    Tuesday, January 10, 2023 - 12:00am

    Location:

This 6-week group provides doctoral students with a supportive, structured environment that helps mitigate the sense of isolation and frustration that often accompany the dissertation process. It also creates opportunities for peer accountability to help each other stay on track. This group does NOT focus on the technical aspects of writing and there will be no review of written work, though participants are welcome to arrange for that type of review outside of group meetings. A weekly discussion topic will also allow participants to share experiences with and resources that help address some of the most common barriers to progress (e.g., low motivation, time management, stress/burnout).  This group is open only to PhD students who are actively working on their dissertation.

To register, please fill out this brief Qualtrics form where you can let us know a little bit about yourself as well as your preference for the group meeting time: https://msu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_87WNeSbH7xqAcPc

Accessibility in the classroom ensures that all students, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, are able to fully participate in their education. There are many ways to make a classroom more accessible, including providing materials in multiple formats (such as electronic or audio), using clear and concise language, and creating a physically accessible space. By making accessibility a priority in the classroom, higher education institutions can create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. As instructors, we can also work with students with disabilities to address any specific accessibility needs they may have. This interactive session will address multiple needs, including articulating the importance of disability inclusion in higher education, identifying accessibility and inclusion resources on and off campus, and navigating the implementation of accommodations.
