That data can be reviewed here: https://careernetwork.msu.edu/graduates-outcomes/. This process is being repeated and requires the partnership of graduate program directors.

  • ETD Deadline Day - SS22

Category: Grad School, University-Wide ETD Deadline Day - SS22

    May 11, 2022

    Date:

    Wednesday, May 11, 2022 - 12:00am to 11:55pm

    Location:

The deadline for FINAL APPROVAL of an electronic Thesis or Dissertation by the Graduate School is TODAY at 5:00 p.m. To accept a document for publishing on or before the deadline means that the student’s document has been reviewed by a graduate school employee, the document has been determined to be formatted correctly AND all required paperwork has been turned in to the Graduate School PRIOR TO the deadline date and time. Deadline day is not just the day that the document is to be submitted via ProQuest for the first time. It is the day where all of the requirements must be completed. Chances are, if a document is submitted on deadline day for the first time, the document will most likely be accepted for graduation in the next semester.

Students are encouraged to submit their document at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline. As long as the student has successfully defended the thesis or dissertation and has made the corrections that the committee requires, he or she may feel free to submit the document via the ProQuest website.

Students are highly encouraged to read and follow the Thesis and Dissertation information available on the Graduate School’s website at: https://grad.msu.edu/etd. This site gives instructions on formatting, required paperwork, and how to submit to ProQuest.

For Ph.D. students: The student’s GradPlan should be official and be as complete as possible prior to submitting to ProQuest.

Attention Doctoral Students, MMs, MFAs, and Postdocs!

The Graduate School invites you to a connected series of interactive sessions that will help you fulfill the workshop portion of the requirements for the MSU Certification of College Teaching. Over the course of three sessions, you will learn about the missions of various university types, discuss how to develop a context-specific teaching philosophy, participate in an interactive session to begin to develop a mentored teaching project, and discuss how to effectively assess student learning outcomes in inclusive learning environments. Through a combination of group sessions and focused breakouts, you will gain skills in core competency areas of the Certification, plan a mentored teaching project, and learn about the components of the final teaching portfolio. You will also learn about resources available to support your professional development in teaching from units at Michigan State, including the Graduate School, Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, the Academic Advancement Network and the Hub for Innovation in Learning and Technology.

The Certification in College Teaching Program is primarily designed for doctoral students, MMs, MFAs, and postdocs preparing to become faculty members in a college or university. The CCTP culminates in the preparation of an e-portfolio that will help participants prepare for academic job interviews and plan for their professional development as early career faculty. Graduate students who successfully complete all requirements will receive a designation of the Certification on their MSU transcript; postdocs receive a letter from Provost Woodruff recognizing their completion of the CCTP. Registration is required and participants must attend both days of the institute.

An electronic portfolio is a great way to showcase one’s experience, skills and research when building one’s career. It can be used to document one’s growth as educator, researcher, and professional. In addition, prospective employees can directly view a professional profile through accessing a personalized link.

In this workshop, participants will explore platforms available to build their e-portfolio, especially to highlight their Certification in College Teaching. They will walk through simple steps of one e-portfolio platform and start drafting their own to expand on or to fine-tune what they have already created.
