COGS invites you to experience Abrams Planetarium with us on March 23rd for a spring semester edition of our popular Night Under The Stars with COGS! Discover the wonders of Abrams Planetarium, located in the center of MSU’s campus, with a special FREE show just for MSU graduate and professional students and their accompanied guests. The planetarium hosts a wide range of public programming throughout the year for all ages. This is your chance to check it out! Show is approximately 1 hour long.
Featured show: Experience of the Aurora Over seven months in the Arctic Circle, our crews captured time-lapse images of the Aurora Borealis with high resolution digital SLR cameras outfitted with fisheye lenses. The results are spectacular. For the first time the aurora has been captured as it was meant to be experienced, as a display that covers the entire sky. This immersive show shares the science behind the aurora and tells the story of our quest to find and photograph the aurora for wraparound display in full dome theaters. Show lasts approx. 30 minutes and is followed by a 30-minute live presentation of the current evening sky.
Event is free of charge. No pre-registration needed, but in the event that (140) capacity is reached, attendance is first-come, first-served.
