MSU Center for Survivors Announces Spring Groups
MSU Center for Survivors provides various confidential services to support survivors. Survivors have access to free advocacy, individual therapy, group workshops, a crisis chat available at centerforsurvivors.msu.edu , and a 24/7 hotline at (517) 372-6666. Right across the hall, on the second floor of the Student Services building is the MSU Sexual Assault Healthcare program. The program is staffed 24/7 by specialized forensic nurses. Services are free and available to adults who have been sexually assaulted within the last 5 days. Walk in or call 517-353-2700. During spring semester, MSU Center for Survivors will be providing various virtual and in-person groups listed below. All Too Well Fridays, 12-1:30pm | February 3- February 24 | Center for Survivors office This expressive arts group will explore ways in which songs by Taylor Swift have supported survivors’ lived experiences. Atlas of the Heart- Watch & Connect Wednesdays, 10am-12pm | February 8- March 29 | Center for Survivors office Do you have trouble explaining your emotions? You’re not alone! Join us to watch and discuss Brene Brown’s Atlas of the Heart mini-series to better understand, communicate about, and connect around shared human emotions. Dissociation Skills Group Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00pm | Starting January 19 | Center for Survivors office If you dissociate you might feel disconnected from yourself, others and the world. Experiences of dissociation vary widely and are a common, natural response to trauma. Learn new ways of understanding and coping with dissociation. Essential Oils Make & Take Wednesdays, 2pm | 1/25, 2/22, 3/29, and 4/26 | Center for Survivors office Explore how to use essential oils in treating various issues, including boosting your immune system and relieving stress, anxiety, and lifting your mood.
